I thought it was really cool to see the petrified wood lying all around! It makes you feel like you are stepping back in time and seeing nature like it was so long ago! It's worth visiting if you are in the area! :)

Didn't want to make the strenuos climb to the best parts but for $4 we could take an easy stroll among sample trees with explanatory panels.

This was an educational hike for me! I had no clue what petrified wood was and because we were so excited about the hike we didn't read about it before taking this hike. DON'T DO THAT! Lol This hike is easy for anybody. It took us about any hour to complete and was so worth it!

Unexpected gem on our trip! We were looking g for a place to camp, the park was full, but the gentleman at the gate had us intrigued, so we did the recommended hike! It was absolutely beautiful. Pictures cannot do it justice. The colors in the petrified wood are amazing!

Beautiful place. Small and quiet. The reservoir is perfect for SUP or kayaking with calm water. This place has showers running hot water, shelters on each campsite and an easy trail to see the petrified wood.
